From Tezos to the World… 🌍

In line with our vision for tzBTC 2.0, we are excited to announce an expansion of our minting capabilities! You can now mint tzBTC not only on Tezos but also on Etherlink and Ethereum. With this milestone, tzBTC evolves into xcBTC – a truly cross-chain Bitcoin.

What’s Changing?

✅ tzBTC is now xcBTC – a new name for a new era of interoperability.

✅ Website migration – tzbtc.io will transition to xcbtc.com.

✅ New logo – reflecting our expanded vision (see below)

tzBTC 2.0: A Year of Growth

Since its launch in April 2024, tzBTC 2.0 has powered 1,000+ minting and burning transactions, often achieving completion within just one hour. Now, we’re taking it further by integrating additional chains. On Tezos, the migration from tzBTC to xcBTC will take a few more weeks as we will need to change related contract data and before that, test to make sure we don’t break something.

What’s New?

🚀 Three blockchains:

Beside the new brand, you’ll be able to mint and burn xcBTC to and from Tezos, Ethereum, and Etherlink. Our bridge will enable it.


💧 Liquidity Pools Coming Soon:

New liquidity pools will come to Uniswap on Ethereum (wBTC – xcBTC) and to IquanaDex on Etherlink (wXTZ – xcBTC).

Looking Ahead: More Chains?

While some ecosystems are flourishing with new projects, others, especially non-EVM chains, are still developing essential tooling. We are actively exploring partnerships to expand xcBTC even further.
